FAQ
Do I have to bring my own beer?
Yes. bring 4 beers that are 355ml and minimum 5% alcohol for the race. Bring at least 1 extra beer for the beer raffle.
Holy shit, this is chip timed?
Yes. Vancouver Beer Mile doesn’t screw around. The classic version on the track is chip timed. Vertical Beer Mile will be hand timed because Grouse Mountain would sue us.
I can’t drink beer. Can I still participate?
In order to preserve the sanctity of beer mile all participants must drink beer.
If you can’t/don’t want to drink beer then you are welcome to come out and cheer beer milers onward towards their glory while enjoying your beverage of choice from the sidelines.
I heard that there are awards is that true!?!
Yes there are. Top male and female finishers get prize packs, and probably a giant gummy bear or something.
What’s the deal with the beer raffle?
Everyone brings one extra beer and chucks it into a giant bucket. At the end of the beer mile we draw one race bib number. That person takes the entire thing home with them! Wooaahhhhhh!!!!
I’ve never done this before and am scared!
Do not be afraid! Most people are doing this for fun and don’t really care about time, if you walk the whole thing and take 30 minutes you are still a champion in our eyes.
Should I wear a costume?
Hell ya you should! It’s not required…. but it is pretty much required…
